Firstly, what is a hero? A hero is "a man well-known for his exceptional courage, nobleness and strength". In our group's opinion, Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill has fulfilled just that. Additionally, We think that heroes are those who have achieved what they want to achieve and they arise from some special circumstances.
Our group believes heroes are those who have consistency, self-confidence, vision and are decisive. Churchill has many of these common heroic characteristics and much more. He achieved what he wanted to do by leading his nation during world war 2.Churchill once said, "I was only the servant of my country and had I, at any moment, failed to express her unflinching resolve to fight and conquer, I should at once have been rightly cast aside. " This not only emphasized on his patriotism and his love for his country, it also helped him achieve what he wanted, which was to contribute to the country.
Besides, Churchill also aroused from a circumstance of being brave enough to step up to lead his country into war. He was the only daring soul who was willing to do that. Therefore, this is where his heroism act comes in. Being courageous and brave enough to face the adversities.
Born on 30 November 1874 at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, from a conservative member, Churchill became a undersecretary then to a home secretary. After which, he became first lord of Admiralty before embarking on his army career. From 1917 to 1929,he served time on the Western Front.
Going to great lengths in order to keep his country alive, he cared greatly for his people. Yet, this was the challenge Churchill faced - the country he took over was often maligned as unsuccessful.(problem faced) He was the leader of the free world leading the war effort in a global conflict. To meet the office demands, He planned a routine that set an intense pace for his routine so that his staff would work with him. (solution) His self-sacrificing, noble act earned respect from his people and subordinates. This allowed his staff, members of government and military leaders to plan when they wanted to meet with him, hence having a higher efficiency rate. If Churchill's schedule was changed, people would know of it in advance. This was how well-organized the system was.
This showed how competent and triumphant Churchill was as a leader. (qualities) Churchill's typical work day would start around 7 AM. Churchill would work from his bed until the early afternoon. He would work for two solid 8 hour days. (Evidence to support his qualities).
As Churchill mentioned," Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others". Being tired was not a barrier to his success. For the survival and victory of his people, he lay great courage.
In addition, Churchill was a man with vision and aspiration. During his rule, he believed in the vision of having an influential European as the effective balance to avoid war. Others began to follow his leadership, it became obvious that he was the right man to lead his nation.
Furthermore, he had self belief in not only in his own abilities but also in his destiny. Great leaders rarely lack self-belief and Churchill was no exception.
With his political achievements, Churchill left an inspiring number of publications including the win of the novel prize for Literature in 1953.
All in all, Churchill loved his country and was loyal to the end, even when his country was in a great war. He was an inspiration to people and led the country through the war. He was known around the world as a great leader.
Therefore, Churchill is definitely a hero that deserves our great respect.

ReplyDeleteWe strongly agree that William Churchill is qualified to be called a hero. we believe that a hero is respectable, noble, courageous and is loyal to its country. William Churchill leads his country in world war 2 without any hesitation, he is an example of a person that is willing to die for his country, his remarkable courage and loyalty to his country is very respectable and should be followed by the younger generation. However, it is not enough for a person to be a hero. William Churchill cares about his people's welfare and is willing to do anything to protect his people from any harm, hence allowing him to earn great respect his people. his excellent leadership qualities, humble personality makes him a hero in people's eyes. In conclusion, we think that William Churchill is a selfless, heroic and brave leader that should be respected and learned by the younger generation.
